Ray Salyer

Ray’s Grandmother bought him his first bass at the age of 14 and he taught myself to play by listening to various styles of music from Bluegrass to Rock. Within 4 months he was playing with his parent’s gospel group.

As Ray’s interest, admiration and respect for music and the bass grew, he carried it through his high school years where he played bass, trombone, tuba and baritone. He graduated with honors in 1982, and went to a vocational technical school for 2 1/2 years and studied electronics while playing with various local bands.

From 1985 to present, Ray has played bass on over 900 recording sessions in studios located in Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, Tennessee, Indiana, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia. He has also recorded bass on sound tracks for Paramount theme parks.

From 1987 – 1998 he played bass with a very talented band called Breakaway. Genre: Country, Pop, Dance and Funk Music.

1990 – 2002 he played bass for the newly formed organization called the Kentucky Opry, a very family oriented show similar to those you would see in Branson or Myrtle Beach.

From 1998 – 2002 Ray played bass with another group of very talented musicians in a band called Full House.

From 2002 – 2010 he played bass for the CMA and ACM Nominated Band ” EXILE “. They had 10 number 1 hits and
20 Top 40 Hits. EXILE also penned hits for artist such as Alabama, Janie Fricke, Forester Sisters, Dave and Sugar, Diamond Rio, and Restless Heart.

Today, Ray is laying down the low end for the CMA, ACM award-winning and Grammy nominated artist John Michael Montgomery. He has had 15 number 1 hits and a host of other charted songs.
