James Pennebaker

“I’m one of those people who always have to know what makes things tick. Eminence speakers have been a crucial part of what’s ticking inside my amps for many years. Eminence speakers are original equipment inside many of my amplifiers and several of the Legend series speakers have replaced the original speakers in my vintage amps.”

Multi-instrumentalist James Pennebaker began working in local blues and country bands in and around his home of Ft. Worth, TX playing just about anything with strings on it. Musically speaking, Fort Worth, Texas is a pretty good place to come from. Texas in general has always been a melting pot of musical styles. If you’re going to play music there, you’d better be able to cover your stylistic bases. Pennebaker hit the road in 1976 touring with singer/harmonica player Delbert McClinton, a stint that would last full time through the mid 1980′s and still continues off and on to this day.

While living in Texas, he recorded with a variety of artists including Freddy Fender and Jimmie Dale Gilmore. A move to Nashville in the early 190′s led to a musical affiliation with his old Texas buddy Lee Roy Parnell, with whom he made five albums. As a top call session man, Pennebaker has made records with T. Graham Brown, Billy Joe Shave, Delbert McClinton, Pam Tillis and many others.
